MAC and the National League of Cities to Launch Manufacturing Initiative on March 8 in Washington, DC

On March 8, 2016, the MAC and the National League of Cities (NLC) is launching a new Manufacturing Initiative at the NLC's Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C.  The goals of the Initiative will be to:

  • Highlight the need for communities to maintain and attract manufacturing investment and jobs to promote a diversified local economy;
  • Promote advanced manufacturing to ensure that the manufacturing “pie” continues to grow as a percentage of the nation’s GDP and that all regions can share in the manufacturing economy;
  • Pursue funding for, and conduct research on, best practices for promoting growth in advanced industries in metropolitan regions; and
  • Ensure that manufacturing legislation and initiatives, such as federal grants and technical assistance, continue to be high on the agenda of the Executive and Legislative Branches.

On March 8, the Initiative will kick off with a press conference at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Roundtable Discussion at 9:45 a.m. on the goals and agenda of the Initiative featuring key Washington policymakers. Later that evening, the MAC will host a reception for Initiative participants.  All events will take place at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.

MAC members are encouraged to attend.  If you are not a current MAC member and wish to participate in these events, please contact Bill Hanka at billh@hankaadvisor.com or 202-320-0463.
